Spa Therapist

We are recruiting a qualified Spa/Beauty Therapist to join our Spa team in providing a range of high quality treatments. The Spa at Old Thorns specialises in Germaine de Capuccini face and body treatments, OPI manicures, pedicures and gel polish, Sienna X spray tan, eyelash extensions plus waxing and tinting treatments.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To provide a range of health and beauty treatments to the highest standards
  • To be aware of and promote all treatments and any promotions on offer
  • To be responsible for equipment, products, cleanliness and hygiene of the treatment areas
  • To provide cover on spa reception as required
  • To ensure the high levels of customer service are delivered at all times

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Hold a recognised beauty or spa qualification, minimum NVQ 3 or equivalent
  • Smart personal presentation
  • Good interpersonal skills with a polite, friendly and approachable manner
  • Work well within a team

Trainee Greenkeeper

Working as a KickStart Trainee Greenkeeper you will work within the Greenkeeping Department. In this role you will assist with the upkeep of the golf course, surrounding areas and hotel grounds. You will undertake hands-on training and gain experience carrying out all the main responsibilities of a Greenkeeper.

You will be training towards duties and responsibilities.

  • to upkeep the hotel grounds as directed by line manager,
  • to put into practice all training and instructions provided by the Head Greenkeeper,
  • to carry out turf maintenance operations associated with the golf course and hotel grounds,
  • to ensure all Health and Safety procedures are adhered to at all times
  • to undertake routine machine maintenance

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has drive and motivation to work in the Hospitality sector. We are looking for an individual who wants to build a successful career within Hotels and/or Greenkeeping

In this role you will be able to learn and develop greenkeeping skills, Golf knowledge, teamwork and communication skills, H&S knowledge, and basic computer user skills among many others.

This role is for a 6-month Kickstart placement, and will be for 25 hours per week.

Our Kickstart programme is an opportunity for young people claiming Universal Credit. You will gain valuable work experience for six months.

To be eligible for the Kickstart programme you will need to be:

  • Currently claiming Universal Credit
  • Be available to work for 25 + hours
  • Be able to undertake a 6-month work placement/training programme

Training Provided:

All new starters will be attending company induction day where they will learn about the Hotel, H&S, the main policies and procedures and benefits. They will also attend a 2h induction to Costumer Service on the day.

New starters will be provided with a buddy for the first two weeks of their employment. The buddy will act as a mentor training them and guiding them through their first weeks at work. The buddy will remain available throughout their employment as a main point of contact and support.

During the first two weeks new starters will be able to do cross training in the relevant departments, allowing them to learn about the overall operation of the hotel.

We will enrol new starters on our online training platform where they will be able to do online training. Topics include, H&S safety, Food Safety, Allergen Awareness, Multiple COVID 19 training's, Effective Teams, Disability Awareness, Guest Service etc.

Weekly 1 to 2 hour training will be provided by the HR team covering topics such as CV writing, interviewing practice, time keeping, teamwork, effective communication among many others.

Contract length: 6 months

Part-time hours: 25 per week
