General

Directions by car

Old Thorns is located just minutes from the A3 on Longmoor Road. On the A3 Liphook-Petersfield by-pass, take the exit for Griggs Green. Continue for approximately half a mile before taking a right turn at the sign post for Old Thorns. You will pass the Deer’s Hut pub on the left hand side. Continue to the end of the driveway where you will find the main car park.

Directions by train

Our nearest station is Liphook, at only 2.1 miles away. From Liphook station, take a left onto Station road and then turn right onto Portsmouth Road. At the roundabout, take the first exit. At the next roundabout, take the first exit onto Longmoor Road. Remain on Longmoor Road for just over 1 mile. You will see the sign post for Old Thorns on the left. Take the left turn. You will pass the Deer’s Hut pub on the left hand side. Continue to the end of the driveway where you will find the main car park.

Public transport

The nearest bus stop is Bircholt Road which is on the 250 - Liphook Village Circular Bus Route. The nearest train station is in Liphook, approximately 2 miles away. London Heathrow is the nearest airport, approximately 40 miles away. Other nearby airports include London Gatwick (50 miles away) and Southampton (40 miles away).

What’s in the local area?

Old Thorns is on the outskirts of the village of Liphook. There are a number of pubs in the village, including the Deer’s Hut which is in walking distance to Old Thorns. For more ideas, visit the local attractions page.

What tourist attractions are close to Old Thorns?

Do you have a luggage room?

Yes. Guests looking to arrive on site earlier than check in can store luggage at reception, and use changing facilities if they need to when coming to an event/wedding.

Do you have bike storage?

Bike storage racks are available in the car park.

Do you have free WiFi?

Yes, free WiFi is available throughout the resort. Signal strength may vary in some locations of our property. Please note that this is an open WiFi network and there are no security or filtering measures in place so children should have parental supervision when using the WiFi.

Do you have free parking?

Yes, there is free parking at the hotel. Our main car park holds approximately 200 cars with an overflow car park available with parking for an additional 150 vehicles. All cars are left at the owners risk and we advise removing all valuables. There is a dedicated car park for apartment guests to the right of the main car park, behind the Alliss block.

Do you have electric vehicle charging points at Old Thorns?

Yes, electric vehicles can be charged using the Tesla charging points in the Old Thorns car park. Our Tesla charging points have built-in adaptors that enable any electric vehicle to be charged. Charges may apply.

What services do you offer in the hotel?

We have a 18-hole golf course, spa treatments, health club with gym, pool and wellness facilities, fitness classes, multisport court, facilities for weddings and events, Sports Bar, Champagne Bar, Kings Restaurant and Oties Diner.

What are the operating hours?

Old Thorns is open 24 hours a day. Individual outlet operating hours can vary seasonally. Please check the website for the latest times.

Do you have meeting rooms?

Yes. Our highly experienced business events team are skilled in hosting all forms of meetings, from the smallest sales team get-together to an international conference.

Do you offer concierge service?

The main reception desk can assist with these services.

Can I bring my pet to Old Thorns?

Unfortunately, we don't allow pets to stay in any of our accommodation, this applies to hotel rooms, eco pods and apartments.

Reservations

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Our standard check-in time is 3pm and check-out time is 11am. Some of our packages may include early check-in so if you’re unsure please check your confirmation email.

Can I arrive earlier than my check-in time?

Guests looking to arrive on site earlier than check-in can store luggage at reception, and use changing facilities if they need to when coming to an event/wedding.

How much is late check out?

If you pre-book late check-out in advance the costs are £10 Per Hour for bedrooms Unauthorised late check -out fees are up to £100 per hour

Is there a security deposit?

Reception will take a pre-authorisation at check-in of £50 per hotel room or £100 per apartment. If there are no charges necessary against your booking, this money will be released back into your account. If you pay by debit card this can take up to 10 working days to release, depending on your bank. However, if you use a credit card the funds are usually available instantly after check-out.

What meal plans do you offer?

Some Old Thorns packages such as golf and spa packages include a 2-course evening meal.

Rooms

Do you have room service?

We offer room service in our hotel rooms.

What facilities does the room have?

How is the room layout?

Superior rooms: Main bedroom has a king size bed with two bedside tables. Table and 2 chairs, drawers and cabinet.

Deluxe rooms also have a sofa bed.

What is the view from the rooms?

Hotel rooms – View varies. Most rooms do not have a view.

Residences & Penthouses – All Residences and Penthouses have a good view of the golf course and Hampshire countryside.

What size are the beds?

King. Most beds have the ability to be split into twins if required.

Are robes provided?

Robes and slippers are included for spa package guests only – treatment only bookings can hire them as an extra for their stay at £10pp – subject to availability.

Food And Drink

What bar and restaurant options are at Old Thorns?

We offer a variety of different dining options to suit every taste including breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and dessert! Food is served in our Kings restaurant, Sports bar and Oties diner and you can also go for a drink in the Atrium  Cocktail Bar (opening times vary).

Do you need to book a table?

Call 01428 724 555 to book a table in our Kings restaurant. No need to book for the Sports Bar or Oties.

What are the restaurant and bar opening times?

Times vary for our restaurants and bars and are seasonal

When is breakfast?

Breakfast is served from 6:30am - 10am (Monday – Friday)

7am – 10:30am (Saturday – Sunday)

How much is breakfast?

Our main breakfast is available from the Kings restaurant and is £16.95 per person.

Under 12s £9.95. Under 2s are free.

Alternative breakfast options are available from Oties diner.

Is there a dress code in the bars and restaurants?

No, there is no dress code in our bars and restaurants except the cocktail bar where smart casual is expected.

Spa

When can I book a pool time?

Pre-booking is not required for pool and wellness suite use.

The use of these facilities is on a first come, first served basis. Our team have put measures in place for the use of facilities to be as fair as possible. However, there is no guarantee of availability, and no financial reimbursement will be available for these facilities being unavailable or fully booked.

Robe and slipper hire

The loan of a robe is only included on day and overnight packages that include Spa treatments. A deposit of £10 will be taken per robe which will be refunded when the robe is returned.

For all other Spa guests, robes can be hired at a cost of £10 (subject to availability). A deposit of £10 per robe will also be taken which will be refunded when the robe is returned.

We request that guests on day and overnight spa packages wear suitable footwear – please feel free to bring your own. Alternatively Slippers can be purchased for £2, or Flip Flops for £5.

What are the spa opening times?

10am – 6pm (9:30am – 5:30pm Sundays)

You can make a booking before/after our closing hours online, providing there is availability. However, we would always advise calling if your chosen date isn’t available online as we may still be able to offer something else. Our busiest time for check-in on the desk is between 10am – 11am so we would advise calling after this time.

Is the spa and health club the same area?

The treatment spa and health club are separate areas – the spa relaxation room and spa terrace are only included for spa package guests (Not for treatment only bookings even if they are a hotel guest).

Can I upgrade my spa break to the Residences?

Upgrades to the Residences for spa overnight packages are available subject to availability.

I’d like to make a group booking

To make a group booking we advise you give us a call on 01428 738 540 as the website will only allow you to book 2 guests at one time.

Am I able to book spa and tribute overnight package?

Spa and tribute overnight packages are available – please give us a call on 01428 738 540 to book.

Do you have an age restriction?

For spa treatments we have a strict 16 years and over policy. For the wellness area the age limit is 18 and above.

Do you do couples treatments?

We are currently unable to offer couples massages/treatments in the same room. However, we always try to make your treatment reservations at the same time if we have the availability to do so.

Do you cater for pregnant women?

We do cater for all pregnant guests, however treatments are very limited until after the first trimester (12 weeks+).

Do you have treatments for men?

We do have a specific men’s section in our brochure, however men are able to choose from almost any of our treatments and women can book the men’s treatments if they would like – we do not offer men’s intimate waxing.

Should I book in advance?

For treatment bookings we would always advise to book in advance and as soon as possible to avoid disappointment - bookins can be 6 - 8 weeks in advance. Bookings can be made on the day if we have any availability but this would not be guaranteed. Full payment is required at time of booking for all treatments bookings.

Can I buy a spa voucher?

All vouchers are available on the website, however you can come in-house to purchase one if you would prefer. Once the voucher has been purchased, any bookings for which you would like to use the voucher would need to be made over the phone as vouchers are currently not redeemable online.

What is the Wellness Bed treatment?

Warm water jets hit the underside of the soft bed in even movements. They massage the body from head to toe while you float almost weightlessly on the dry surface. The soothing warmth and gentle power of the water activate the deeper tissue layers and loosen the entire muscle system, ensuring a full body wellness treatment.

Please be aware that this experience does not involve a treatment from a therapist, you will be shown how to use the wellness bed and set your preferred settings before being left to enjoy a tranquil experience.

Golf

If we’re not a 4-ball do you pair groups up?

Due to the resort style of the tee sheet, we do pair groups up to 4 people to manage our tee times to the best of our availability to improve our guest’s experience. E.g. if you’re a two ball amongst four balls then you may be waiting a lot on the course between shots which is why we pair groups up.

How many golf buggies do you have, and should I pre-book them?

We currently have 35 golf buggies available to hire for the rates please see the Golf page. We do advise pre-booking a buggy if you know you require one as we can’t guarantee them being available on the day. Pre-Payment is required when booking buggies.

Do you have electric trollies to hire?

We don’t currently have a fleet of electric trolley’s but do have a fleet of manual trollies available to hire.

Do you accept visitors?

Yes, we do accept visitor, society and golf residential bookings. To book a standard tee time please visit our online tee booking sheet to which is on our Golf page. To book a society or golf residential booking please contact our Golf Reservations Team.

Is there a driving range?

Yes, there is tokens are £5.00 for approx. 50 balls, slots are based on a first come first served basis throughout the day. The range is an irons only range with maximum distances advised in each bay.

Are the refreshments on the course?

Yes, we have a Halfway Hut (peak season & off peak times vary) as well as a Halfway Hut app which sends your order to the shop which then gets brought out to you if you're elsewhere on the course.

Weddings

Can guests get a discounted rate on rooms?

The rate and number of discounted rooms that have been reserved for wedding guests depends on what the couple have arranged with our weddings team. The best way to proceed is to contact our reservations team with the couple's name and then that can advise what the rate and availability is reservations@oldthorns.com.

I’m a guest at a wedding, can I use the pool and wellness facilities?

Yes, sessions in the pool/wellness area and gym are included as part of your stay. This is available on a first come, first served basis. 

Health Club

Can I use the health club facilities?

Pre-booking is not required for pool and wellness suite use. Hotel guests have access to the pool and wellness suite from check-in on the day of arrival until check-out on the day of departure. Please note that our gym and wellness facilities cannot be used by under 18s.

Can children use the pool?

Children are welcome to use the pool in the dedicated child swim times, see below.

Can children use the gym?

The gym is only available for those aged 18 and over.

Our memberships include use of the facilities, classes, discounts, priority booking and more.
